In the Name of the Father - Trailer (1993)
In the Summer of 1993…
...I was working on the "In the Name of the Father" Trailer at the Universal Trailer Department. We were finding it hard to advance the story of the movie using just the movies dialogue. So we wrote some copy for a news reporter to read VO style while we showed shots of the family in the story watching the TV.
In that same summer my Father-In-Law, Richard Skelton, was visiting from England on vacation, and staying in our house with us. But this particular Summer I decided that he could earn his keep. I had him come by our offices and read the news copy with his authentic British accent thinking the whole time that his ADR would be Temp. and in the end we'd get a professional to do it. When it came time to finish the trailer I reminded everyone that it needed to be replaced but it was unanimously agreed upon that it was perfect the way it was. And that's how my Father-In-Law from North Cotes England ended up in the Final Version of the "In the Name Of the Father" Trailer.
